The area of the mine is located in the geographical coordinates  26° 46´1,07” – 26° 48´ 2,61” South Latitude and 67° 13’ 57,20” – 67° 11´ 44,18” West Longitude; It is located between two Departments in  Catamarca Province; The South part of the mine is located in Tinogasta Department, meanwhile the smallest area is located in the North sector of Belén Department, with  a medium altitude of 3.700 masl, and it is an area of 1527,46 Has.

In order to arrive to the mine area from San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca City, 555 Km are traveled by National Route N° 38 passing through the locations of Coneta, Huillapima & Chumbicha, later, a turn to National Route N° 60 towards Northwest passing through Aimogasta in order to connect with National Route N° 40 to reach Belén Department, passing through the Localities of La Puerta de San José, San Fernando, Corral Quemado y Villa Vil, then arrive to Pasto Ventura and from there  transit 10 Km South through a mining track which leads to the work area.

MACROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION

The rock presents a solid texture with a white-yellow tone. An important content of silical minerals is shown in a cemented matrix, solid and compact made of carbohidrates.

The silican minerals in the rock are classified by its granulometry as sands with sizes that varies between  0,06 and 2,0 mm.

It can also be shown in some areas the presence of coloidal minerals (less to 0,002 mm) that conferes to the rock a smooth texture.
