PROJECT WITH POTENTIAL

IN CUYO REGION

This field is located in the Malargüe Department, Mendoza Province, Puertas de Barrancas District. It has 55.045 hectares.

LIMITS

At West & South with Neuquén Province. This limit is natural and the Barrancas River is the mark. At West the limit is Chile Republic.

At East Cordón de Mary and at North there is a polygonal that goes through a boundary stone of Limits Commission with Chile Republic, in El Guanaco Pass, up to its intersection with the imaginary line in Cordón de Mary.

The property is at 8 km of International Route El Pehuenche,  that goes from Argentina in National Route 40 and Rio Grande towards Talca, Chile Republic.

At West of the property there is the National Route (old 40), in the spot El Alambrado, that goes out Malargüe or to Neuquén Province. From spot El Alambrado goes a mining road that goes through 54 km towards West and goes up to the property in the estuary of Ailinco River in Barrancas.

The property is at 170 km of Malargüe, from the El Alambrado.

In Malargüe there are telephonic communications, an international airport; land passengers transport service with many frequencies per day to the rest of the country.

VIAL NET & COMMUNICATIONS

Property is at 8 km of International Route El Pehuenche, those parts from Argentina in National Route 40 and River Grande up to Talca, Chile Republic.

INVESTMENT OPORTUNITIES

The field Puerta de Barrancas is present as a good opportunity for investment in sectors as:

  • Mining

  • Sustainable Energy (Wind)

  • Tourism

  • Agrarian

  • Wine Producing & Fruit Growing

  • Forestall

  • Pasture

  • Mineral Water

MINERAL WATER

There are many mineral springs among them; there is one with a big current of approximately 8.000.000 litres diaries of running.

Most of the springs existent emerge from a mineral deposit of pumice stone, it means water at coming out has passed for a natural filtering process.

This gives it a very low grade of harshness not superior than 1,5 grades, What means they are very soft waters, with low mineralization, specially regarding Sodium, what is a big advantage compared with very well known brands.

This mineral water fount is located at South West of Malargüe Department, in mountain part of the property mentioned up supra and is a base to be used as raw material for human consumption.

All analysis demanded by Argentinean Alimentary Code has been made and hydrological background has been gathered, locally and regionally in a Sub Watershed of Barrancas River, where the mineral water fount is located.

The water in study has not been used at the moment in no project of interest, but when its specific qualities were discovered, it motivated the realization of a work that carried out a treatment plant, for bottling and commercialization of this mineral water.

The aquifer is located on the side of the hill, forming the above mentioned basin. The water uses the permeability and porosity of the sediments and the fractures and micro-fractures in base rocks for its circulation.

Proper analysis has been performed in order to determine the presence of possible contaminants (hydrocarbons and pesticide residues), according to what is demanded by Argentinean Alimentary Code, and the presence of this components has not been detected.

It is important to mention that the water in study comes from a free aquifer that surges from the zone. The strength of the pyroclastic cape and the depth of the aquifer does not allow contact of the water with local recharges, that may have eventual contaminants as the above mentioned.

MINERAL WATER - LOCATION

The mineral water is captured from the natural upwelling denominated Agua Fría, with a flow that goes up to 200.000 liters/hour,  that has no commercial utility nowadays. The Gauss Krugger coordinates of the natural upwelling are the following:

X=5.986.385,19 - Y=2.383.478,45.

The upwelling is located at 1700 meters over sea level. The access can be performed from the head city of the Department Bardas Blancas. From this place the road can be continued by the same route towards South up to El Alambrado Locality. From this place the road can be continued by mountain chain roads using horses.

MINERY

The proprietary society has declared two deposits of third category minerals: Pumice Stone and Obsidian.

There are also many reserves of clay, limestone, gypsum, among others.

Pumice stone has many applications in industry. For example for previous washing in textile industry,  especially in jeans clothing fabrication. Also for polishing of metal and plastic. It is also used in cosmetic, in pills as long in special exfoliant creams. In construction it is used for lighting up ceramics and for natural isolation.

Regarding obsidian, it has many uses in art craft, specially the one colored caramel or red or the green one with iridescent characteristics.  From industrial point of view, it is good for the production of Gress plaster.

First category minerals have also been detected, as gold, manganese and Quartz.

WINE CULTIVATION & FRUIT GROWING

As the current tendency regarding new wine making undertaking, this property has its own characteristic called terrace. Height over the sea 1300 to 1700 meters, big difference in temperature between night and day, big drain, high luminous density, etc.

There are sectors in the field ready to develop this kind of undertakings at a profitable scale that is able to justify the installing of the elaboration plan that is needed where there is the cultivation.

Some varieties of walnut tree are able to cold weathers and has the particularity of giving more fruits. When they are conveniently implanted they produce excellent wool, very valuable in the international market.

TOURISM

The extension of the property and the many natural attractions it has will allow the development of tourism projects that has activities like: rafting, fishing, horsing, rappel, photographic hunt, hunting high, mountain bike, etc.

A Tourism firm made horsing rides during more than eight years especially in Laguna Negra, a place where many water falls of more than a hundred meters of hight.

Another facet of tourism is the one called Mining Tourism that is interesting for the visiters regarding many aspects of mining exploitation and basic knowledge of the land geology.

As it happens in places in Europe, where mineral water is bottled, touristic activities are also developed. To the development of water exploitation can be added an associated touristic program.

FORESTATION

This property has a great forestall potential, from a study performed for a firm from Neuquen, a State Society with a great trajectory in forestall forestall activity, with and existence of more than 36 years and had made forestall duties in Neuquen Province in more than 42.000 hectares of conifers. It also has tree garden centers of its own in order to supply itself and to sell to other persons.

The firm that performed the study has a great trajectory in forestall activity; it has more than 36 years of existence and has forested more than 42.000 hectares of conifers in Neuquen Province. It also has tree garden centers of its own in order to supply itself and to sell to other persons.

This firm tells us that currently is very difficult for it to find parcels to forest in Neuquen Province that has more than 2.000 hectares, which allows to operate in a more profitable scale and to integrate the project with industrial activity.

Circumstances exposed gives to this property a higher value that has more than 5.000 hectares to forest in a single core what would allow an undertaking to an optimal scale.

Conifers forest does not require leveling of soils of systematization of irrigation.   In order to forest with conifers it is necessary that annual precipitations go over 500 mm, it can be rain or snow.

According to the report performed by an engineer, precipitations in this field are 1.000 mm/per year. Mendoza Province General Department of Irrigation has also made a following of the annual levels of precipitations in the Mendoza mountain range and estimated for the zone of our field an average near 700 mm/per year.

PASTURE

As a consequence of the precipitation regime that exists, there are many pastures in this property, what makes it one of the best fields for summer time in the province.

For a better illustration it is necessary to point that summer time in mountain range is what the winter time is in the wet pampas. To this field currently goes 26 summer visitors with goats, bovines and equines in important quantities.

Through sworn statements, it is said that summer visitors have a suscription which allows them to enter in the property. We can say that enters to the property more than 15.000 goats, 2.000 bovines and 1.000 equines.

The stall holders for the summer visitors subscribe contracts for pastures and they recognize to the owners the titularity of the field.
